Default Confused

well I purchased the Injen Cold Air Intake for my Automatic 2008 xB from trdsparks. My friend comes around to this one website http://www.optionsauto.com/products.asp?dept=7570

and it says MANUAL TRANMISSION..

TRDSparks didn't state anything about this, but that website above does, now I don't know if I this CAI will be ok on an automatic??

Some input would gladly be appreciated, thank you SL Community =]

well, i would imagine trdsparks knows what they are selling better than optionauto.com does. but just to make sure i'd call sparks up and ask them first.

the only thing i can think of is that one of the support brackets attaches to the transmission, it might not work for the automatic versus the manual.

but i'm pretty sure all the cold air intakes for the tc were universal as far as transmissions go.

intake header and exhaust dont require manual trans. bigger things like superchargers and turbos require manual. this is because the auto trans computers arent smart enough to recognize such a big hp increase.

good stuff for the CAI! will get a trd or aem one soon too...

I dunno about that man. In fact, many people say that some auto's are better for turbo.

But in regards to the question at hand, the intake is universal for both transmissions.

/\ i know on really high hp supras or is300 a good amount are automatics. maybe to reduce the wear-n-tear of the transmission. plus im sure at over 600-700hp its easier to just step on it without having to worry to shift every 2 seconds that it reaches optimal rpms

oh, and to anser your question, Im sure they're the same like the tCs

i didnt mean that all autos cant do turbo. i have seen first hand a 700hp auto markIV supra. it can be done with specific autos but for a general rule its not recommended. i was told that it had something to do with the ecu not predicting the correct revs and the engine would forever be in a loop of up and down shifts when you step on the gas. this was also restated in a recent sport compact car "ask dave" but i cant find the damn issue...
