Default TRD intake fuel mileage question?

I have recently picked my 08 XB and want to put an intake on it. Has anyone seen an improvement in their fuel mileage after doing this? and if so which intake would you recomend being used?

Your fuel mileage will go down because you'll want to hear the sound it makes . Technically its suppose to make it go up slightly, but you have to drive it conservative in order for that to happen.

Yeah I really don't know that an intake will improve enough in the gas mileage department to stand out. The question is asked a lot, but I've never seen anyone say they noticed the improvement.

And AAG is right, it sounds great....well if you like loud engine noises lol.

Yeah it definetly sounds better than stock. I was debating if I should pull of the snorkel/resonator thing on the air box that runs to the fender to get the loud sound LOL.

Oh are you just talking about the drop in filter in the stock airbox? I thought you ment the CAI. I have the AEM CAI and it's crazy loud.

Adding the TRD high-flow air filter is NOT the same as adding CAI! In fact, due to the presence of the restrictive carbon filter above it in the air box, the TRD filter may make very little difference at all! The usual CAI kits do away with both the snorkel AND the airbox.

increased mpg is not the goal of a high performance intake, the goal is higher performance!

increased air flow of cooler denser air means more air is able to get into the engine, and therefore your engine can add more fuel to make more power.

so you will see a slight decrease in MPG, but it is very small, much like the power gain.
