Twoface presents: 2 cheap mods TC**UPDATE**56Kwarning
So its a unusually warm january weekend and i decided to share the simple mods i just did.
First is very cheap. I replaced that ugly orange bulb in the front with a clear one.
bulb number is 7440 and it cost about 5 bucks to do. Its bright as hell at night and looks
loads better.

The next mod was alittle more involved but still realatively cheap. I purchased some gloss black
spray paint and some clear coat spray paint. I removed my front and back badge on my flint Mica
car and painted them gloss black. I also removed the chrome trim around the grill and also painted
it gloss black. Someone on this forum was grossly misinformed and said that it just pop out with a
flat head, well after 20 minutes of using suggested method. there are 7 screws holding it in. So i
tell ya that much to save you the trouble. You need a small phillips to get them out. Not alot of
room to work with so u also need a small handed philips.
For the badges i just used a flat head, got behind the badge and lifted up and didnt stop until it popped
out. There is adheasive and two prongs holdhing the front and back badges in. The adheasive stayed on and i was
able to reuse it after painting.
For the trim and emblems i did two/three coats of gloss black and two/three coasts of clear coat.
here is the finished product.

Ok
out of request form members, these are the full frontal and rear pictures of the car. Its been really crap weather here so i took in the parking garage after work.
ill take some in the day time when its nice, if anyone requests more.

After:
(these are the new blueish tinted bulbs i also put in instead of the whites)

You can get replacement bulbs from Sylvania for those corner markers that look blue when they're off but shine amber when they're on. That's kinda cool - I'd like to find some that are clear that shine amber.

I've been pulled over for it before.Even if his state didn't require amber, he just said he put blue ones in there.
Lighting might not seem like a big deal, but you should be careful about it... one of my buddies hit some idiot in an Accord that had clear tails with "hyperwhite" bulbs in them. Our state law says that your break lights have to be red, and you have to have a red reflective material on the back of your car too, rather it be in your lights, or a separate reflector. Being as rice items such as this are usually made with only the utmost quality (sarcasm) in mind, my buddy couldn't see the guy and rear ended him at night in a dimly lit area. Not only did the guy with the clear tails end up paying for all the damages (probably his insurance company actually), he also spent 5 nights in jail.
Even though Department of Transportation laws are state-declared, most of the lighting laws on the road aren't DOT-influenced laws, but rather SAE-influenced laws, which is an international organization. If something is outside of state control it's defined as "Federal." The question comes in - where does hugging the line of the law start and being a stupid ricer begin.
