my winter Driving Review : )
Dont buy into the hype!
i Read horrible reviews here about how HORRIBLE it is in snow..
And to be honest, its not That bad. I think alot of people just dont know how to drive in snow. Take the car to a empty parking lot, and mess around till u can predict what the car will do.
i drove a hour in the snow here today, 2-3 inch's so Far, and i had no problems, The ABS Brake's Work like a charm, andfor such low profile tires i was expecting it to be so much worse, it handles just as good if not the same, as my bro's new 3 series, and he also has 17's for stock, and 19's for summer..
So learn how to drive in the snow...
And then post a review. Reading this board sometimes u get such wrong info..
ICE comes tomorrow, and ill let u know how that went

It's a good car for the snow. It is predictable and is fine. The stock Potenzas are decent / good in the snow.
If I can drive my mr2 in the winter fine (2-3 inches), then you can drive your tC in the snow!

I too live in Northern Mass. and had a horrible time Saturday afternoon. When I left my house snow was coming down easy but a few hours later, it got much harder and on my way back there was slush piled up near my neighborhood where there wasn't much traffic going through and plows hadn't come through yet.
I had some trouble then and just realized that you have to go dead slow when making those turns, luckily there wasn't much traffic.
I didn't get the Potenzas on my 06 but how much of a difference would they make from the ones I have now which are another name brand (forget the name).

I tried to do donuts and skids in an empty parking lot last week to test my tC's traction with snow tires, and I actually couldn't get it to slide much at all (didn't have enough room to get going very fast though). It feels at least as composed as my Honda Civic did, and that car was great in the snow.
The trick, of course, is to use good snow tires and drive intelligently.

I drove mine a couple of times last year in the snow (I have another car). My fiances car died so she is driving my "winter" car now, so I drove the tC today after last nights snow. We only got about an inch but it was sitting on a sheet of ice around where I live (poured rain all night, dropped from 50 to 25 quickly and turned to snow, so the water froze first). Mine has 25k on it on the stock potenzas and did fine. Keep in mind that many of the people who post about it are most likely on thier first car, relatively new driver or have never driven in much snow before.
Today I even tested it out more. Steered a good amount with the e-brake, including bumping it to keep the car pointed into the turn around a long corner (controlled drifts) and even tested the anti-locks by doing emergency stops (full braking power). The control while sliding during the ebrake was very predictable and easy to control and the anti-locks did perfect, no sliding or loss of control at all. Keep in mind I did this in safe areas and I have played a LOT in the snow and ice as well as growing up on dirt roads.. so dont go e-braking while hauling a$$ through a busy area!!
The potenzas arent great (especially at 25k) but get the job done if you know how to drive. I drove it about 4 inches of snow last year without any issues.
