Default READ BEFORE MAKING ANY EVENT CHANGES

Folks, this may seem obvious to just about everyone, but it needs saying anyway...

If for some reason you decide that an already scheduled and advertised event needs to have it's location or time changed, discuss it with the event organizers, don't just announce that it is not going to be where everyone has already been told it will be and expects it to be.

Not everyone spends 24/7 on ScionLife, and they may not catch the changes you made.

Besides that, unless the announcement is made far enough ahead of time, and with enough visibility so that people will actually know you have changed everyone's plans, all you will have accomplished is a minor disaster.

So, If you are going to change, for example, one of the standard M&G location or times...

(1) Discuss it first with the event organizers. Don't know who they are? FIND OUT. See, for example, http://www.meetup.com/PNWscion/calendar/

(2) Get things organized so that the change announcement goes out AT LEAST TWO WEEKS ahead of the new and old date.

(3) Make the announcement OBVIOUS. Use obvious subject lines. Let people know (a) what M&G the topic is about, (b) that there is a change to the time/date/location, ANNOUNCE THAT CHANGE IN THE VERY FIRST POST of the topic, and contact a Moderator, SuperModerator or Administrator to sticky the notice.

If you do not follow these suggestions you will create bad karma for yourself and chance massively disrupting events that people may have been making plans for.

(You will also inspire the wrath of the folks who have spent long hours setting things up and making sure they work.)

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANY PART OF THIS, ASK A MOD, SUPERMOD, OR ADMIN.

Lastly, if it is not your event, clear any and all changes with the event's organizer(s) before opening your mouth.

Thanks,

Tomas
