Rough idle: actually normal?
Definately change the plugs to Iridiums - I can chug mine at about 15mph in 5th and I can feel each plug firing nice and smooth with light throttle and without any gas it just putts along perfectly. If it isn't idling smooth all the time you have something misfirring. I can't see excessive amounts of cleaner doing any good if it is smoking a lot - that's just unburnt oils coating the exhaust and cat which probably isn't doing it any good.
I don't do it much - the problem is the piston power pulses will overload the clutch torque absorbing springs and hammer the gears with each piston firing breaking down the oil film and causing metal to metal contact of the gear teeth. I run some special lubricants to prevent damage and reduce wear already but I was just making a point that the engine should run very smooth at that low an rpm if it is running correctly.

Yeah, if it's not running right it would start bucking and missing. Mine tells me when it needs another Seafoam treatment. You can just tell (feedback thru the steering wheel) when it isn't running exactly right.
