dls 5 channel amp
4 components all around
and a dls subwoofer...
and a 1 farad capacitor...

i was driving i hit a speed bump then all of a sudden the music stoppped playing..

i checked the fuses everything was fine.

then i take apart the trunk i see that when my car is on the capacitor is not on. its a digital and tehre was no lighting on it. i checked the fuse in between the power and amp and its fine the fuses on the back of the amp they were fine. so no im stumped..

i currently have the power cable ran through a fuse. to the trunk to the capacitor then capacitor to the amp .

the head unit turns on there just seems to be no power running to the capacitor so my amp doesnt turn on please.. help !

try putting a new fuse in the fuse holder because if you say that the ground from the car to the capacitor is fine then you obivously have no power going to the capacitor, i've fixed a few cars where the fuse looked fine but it really wasn't...worth a try if not try connecting the power cable to the amp and see if that works, if it does then your capacitor is probably shot/blown/ruined

if the caps not on its either the power or ground, thats your clue to the problem, check the connector on the battery, all the wiring for a pinch point, the connectors going into and coming out of the fuse block and the fuse itself

the cap will always have power though, if he disconnects it from the battery then reconnects it it should light up if its digital, if it dosent its a power/ground issue

^exactly.

09socaltc- for a cap it needs power from the battery and a ground, from there it sends the power and ground to the amp/s

Make sure your ground has a good connection.. Make sure you sand it down to bare metal, and make sure you dont make it farther than 3ft from caps or amp. BTW, Caps are not necessary.

Totally right. I would ditch the cap. For one, it will help you troubleshoot your problem. Pretty much every time my amps/audio ever stopped working it was fuse, ground, or remote. Your cap is just adding a layer of obfuscation making it harder to fix what is probably a very simple problem.

One of the easiest ways to keep this problem from costing you time that you'll never get back in the future is to go and by a cheap multimeter from Lowes or Radio Shack or somewhere. It's nice to be able to identify the problem without doubt... especially in the sweltering summer months

Or you could have short circuit'd the cap and your not getting power to the amp. or your short circuit'd the amp. Try taking the cap out first.
