Default hitch for 2004 xa?

I recently got my roof rack stolen from the 2004 xa and was looking into getting a hitch mount bike rack instead since I can easily remove it. However after searching online, it seems that they do not make a hitch for the 2004 xa. All of the xa hitches I have seen are for 2005 or later. Does anyone have any insight on this?

There would be little to no difference between an 04 and an 05. Its possible that the manufacturer you are looking at doesn't even know there was an 04 xA. I wouldn't even be surprised if that were indeed the case. BTW.. Sorry about your rack. I promptly invested in locks for mine.. especially with all the honda boys running around with their bike racks.. that they never use.. wtf..

Thanks for the reply, I did check a few websites that sell hitches and ebay and none of them had one listed for the '04 xA, so I figured it wasn't a coincidence. I was also thinking that getting an '05 xA hitch would do the trick, but wanted to get confirmation from someone first before actually making a purchase. Also, it looks like hitches are available for the '04 xB. When I select 2004->Scion->the only choice is xB.

My rack was locked but the thieves managed to pry it off somehow leaving my roof with scratch marks. I am still waiting to hear if insurance will cover the cost of the rack.

I think I answered my own question. After looking at the a hitch for an '05 xA and clicking the link for the installation manual, the document says "04-06 xA" on top so I think I'm good!

lol @ locks. takes one hard pull to take it off the roof, and you're just making it worse for yourself because it will scrape the paint and possibly dent your roof. it's all in the design of the rack and clips, they're really easy to take off. you could also break the clips ergo loosening the q towers and just take it off. it's just a risk you take with roof racks.

Well, I just contacted support and the representative said that there was no hitch for the 2004 Scion xA. Of course, they might just be using their own search tool to come to that conclusion. But now I am having my doubts and do not want to go out and purchase a 05-06 hitch only to be stuck with something that doesn't fit.

Huh... interesting.. that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.. I would think the difference would be between the 05 and 06 since the body styles are actually different.. where as the 04 and 05 are the same.. Do they have a picture of the hitch so you can see how it mounts and then you can check the undercarriage for fitment.

I will check my car this weekend. Here is a link to the instructions:

I also found youtube video of someone installing this hitch on their 2005 xA so I can compare my car with theirs.

OK, I am pretty convinced that 04-06 are the same. I went to the uhaul website and they list the same hitch for 04 through 06.

Good choice on the Curt hitch... they cost a few bucks more than the others, but Curt makes a better hitch.
