Default Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD Installed

Pretty much have everything working. I have a few questions. There is a gap on either side of the Pioneers, can I fix this by shaving down the metra pieces? Also there was a trim ring with the AVH-P4000DVD, am I suppose to use it.

Default trim

There are 2 peices in this metra kit 95-8202 Toyota double din kit. They fill the gap. Unfortunately you get stuck with buying the harness also. Is this what you have?
