Default What do you think about the LED's?

I installed these a couple of months ago, influenced by the new Audi DRL's.
Basically bought 10 High Output White 10mm LED's and installed where I thought the Box REALLY needed them!
I think the bright white nicely matches the HID output.

Here's a shot in daytime

Man that looks great. I have been wanting to do that but with two rows for the longest time but I have no experience hooking up anything additional to a cars electrical system. Guess I beater learn.

I'd like them better if they matched the color of your headlights.

Why not? Just make a bracket with some holes in it and mount behind it!

I normally can't stand extra exterior lighting but that's pretty sick. Nice job. Post a how-to!

So any info on the 10mm led's used? Like how many mcd's do the ones pictured have? I found some on ebay claiming 280kmcd. They are the brightest I can find right now. I'm curioous as how they'd look in comparison to the ones yoou used.

Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry I don't have a write-up but here's what I did...

Purchased 10 pre-wired 10mm white LED's similar to these.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20P-1...spagenameZWDVW

I then took off the plastic blanking plates. These are held on with 4 x 1.5cm wide "plugs" if memory serves, which can be released using a screwdriver. (I covered the driver with electrical tape to avoid scratching the paint)

When the plugs are released, push the plastic part in and remove.

I then measured 5 hole drilling points each side.
I used 3 drill bits progressively larger to just under 10mm and squeezed the LED's in.
I was going to use LED mounts but that would have looked cheap. A friend advised this method and the pressure/friction fit seems to hold them in just right.

Then it was a simple case of joining/sodlering each of the 5 LED's of each side to a suitable cable and then using a couple of "scotch lock" type quick locking cable joiner to the car's front side marker power.

The assembled LED blanking plates were then pushed back into place from the engine bay area, get ready to stretch your arm down there! I was too lazy to dismantle the bumper area!

I've since discovered the foglight wiring is already there so may buy the switch and use that circuit instead.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Looks really clean. I actually like these more than the Audi DRL's!

There are a lot of eBay tC headlights that have something similar to this, too.

Those LED are not waterproof...In a few rain storms you will see. the back should have a black rubber coating.
