Exclamation MCH5 aka KidJustin's tC2 | why I can't update the first page... :(

Introduction
So I never really thought about making a build thread, mainly because I wasn't sure how much $$ I would be throwing at my tC2. Plus I have an AT and am geared more toward "show" than "go." And my "show" isn't really going to be something out-of-this-world. But whatever, here it goes...!

Default Misc. Update 1-5-2011 - Stubby Antenna

I really did NOT like the obnoxiously long antenna the tC2 came with...so my first "real mod" was to go out and get a stubby antenna

Default Audio Update 5-17-2011 - Pioneer Headunit

One of the staple MODs around, the changing from the stock HU to an aftermarket HU. One of the first MODs I did on my past car so once I got all the parts I needed, I got to work

eBay items purchased for the install:
Wire Harness: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...8Q26Q5ffviQ3d1
Dash Kit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=243414932519
Axxess Metra ASWC OEM Steering Wheel Control Adapter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/160560647261?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D160560647261%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1Video Brake By-Pass: http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_rdcZ1QQitemZ180618775382QQruZhttpQ3aQ2fQ2fmotorsQ2eshopQ2eebayQ2ecomQ3a80Q2fiQ2ehtmlQ3fQ5ffromQ3dR40Q26Q5ftrksidQ3dm570Q2el2736Q26Q5fnkwQ3d180618775382Q26Q5ffviQ3d1
Modifications that needed to be made:
To keep the stock USB input working I cut the USB cable that came with the Pioneer and then cut the stock USB cable, then spliced them together. AUX/Headphone no longer works, but who needs it?
To make the dash install nice and flush, I had to cut and sand the dash kit...

the red lines are where i cut so that it wouldn't get in the way of the stock bracket
and the red box...(not shown in picture) there was strip of plastic sticking out...i shaved it with sand paper to make it flat like the eBay picture

Default Misc. Update 6-14-2011 - Scion Wristband

Just thought I'd throw it on there. Basically got the idea from see those "Brake Fluid Reservoir Covers" but since the tC2 does not have a typical size reservoir, I had to think of some other place to put it.

Default Exterior Update 6-17-2011 - Painted Emblems SNEAK PEEK + Plug Holes

This is only my first attempt at plasti-diping the emblems. I want to perfect it before I make the final reveal, so in the meantime here are my sneak peek photos of my first try.

BONUS: I also found a way to plug up those nasty bumper holes
I bought Rubber Stoppers (found at any hardware store in the grommet section) and then some touch-up paint at my local dearlership
The first step was to drill the hole a little bit bigger since the smallest rubber stopper is bigger than the original hole drilled
Next is to simply plug it up and paint it!

I did have a boo-boo though as couldn't find the right bit and ended up drilling too big....so I had to go back to Home Depot and get the next size stopper. I will probably re-touch-up the paint or do another coat to make it look nicer

Default Misc. Update 6-24-2011 - Toyota Cabin Filter

Picked it up this morning, installed tonight...Testing tomorrow during my long drive to San Bernardino for the Best of the West III Car Meet

BONUS: Pioneer Valve Cap Locks
So back at the Encore meet @ FiveAxis, the goodie bag included some Pioneer Valve Cap Locks (locks with an allen wrench) and I finally got around to putting them in. I know it will be a major PITA when I need to inflate them or anything, but it was free, it looks cool, and it matches my HU!

Default Repair Update 6-25-2011 - B-Pillar

So as some may know, my Driverside B-Pillar somehow got dented. Well I finally had time to pick up the part

I will update this post with a DIY on the replacement when I do it in the morning.

UPDATE: B-Pillar Replacement DIY
I thought I had to remove the clips on the inside...

But I didn't have to!...instead I just ripped the sucker right off!

I did break the clip on it though, but I don't need this B-Pillar anymore so who cares

So after I pried it off, it looked like this...that black stuff is the leftover glue

The removal took a while, but all I did was use my thumb, applied pressure, and rolled upward or downward until the glue came off

Comparison of the two, notice how the new one has that yellow clip? For the original it stayed on the car, thats the part where I broke the clip from the original

So I just removed the new one and use the yellow clip still on the car

First I made sure the bottom sat within the trim

Then I went up top to connect it to the clip

...remember to flip the backing of the sticker up before doing this!

Once it is all clipped on...start to peal away the backing. I did the vertical skinny first, then the vertical thick, and finally the horizontal skinny. Apply some added pressure to make sure its all stuck down

and done!

I'll try to take a picture of it tonight but it basically fills everything...I mean, you know how the HIDs have that cutofff line where the line doesn't go any higher so you wont blind the the driver in front, well with the HB that line is gone and the whole area up and across is filled.

nolakpd504, i listed it as the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD in my MOD list (post #1)

its pretty easy to find and prices can vary depending on eBay bids (I got mine for like $360ish)...MSRP is like $599 i think...not worth it

Default Descendant CAI - Arrival 7/1/11

IT FINALLY CAME!

I came home from disneyland to find this big ol' box in my room!!

So I had to open it, no matter how tired I am...but I'm busy most of this weekend, then work during the week...so I'm not sure when I have time to install it. Plus I'm not sure if CUSCO needs pictures of a stock engine bay for their strut..oh well I will be getting the finally fitting for their tC2 strut bar on Friday anyways and that weekend is probably the next available day.

Also, mine came with TWO Chris Rado helmet head things...is that normal? to get 2?? oh well...it will go nicely with my Ken Gushi helmet head thing I got a while back. Not sure what to do with it yet...what do you all (that have them) do with it???
