Default Getting Underglow to Blink with alarm noises..

I keep having this idea to get my underglow to blink when I lock or unlock my car. When you hit lock it flashes once, when you hit unlock it flashes twice (with the noise of the siren). I have a viper 791xv alarm and varad led underbody kit.

You could try using a relay with the door lock output. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong because I don't have much experience with relays, you would have to wire the relay like so.

85-> your door lock output, since it is negative

86-> constant 12v

87-> also constant 12v

30-> to the power for your underbody

This would cause power to be given to 30 when 85 is grounded, your negative door lock output. Again for those of you with more experience correct me if you would like.

He's right - the wiring is right, you'll basically tap your 'trigger' wire off of your lights (i reccomend parking lights, if they blink) that way , when your parking lights are on, the underbody can be on too.

thats how i did it on my honda and acura

The way I explained earlier works only for the door unlock example. You can do the parking light way, if you want, but if you do just remember how much your underbody kit will flash in a situation when the alarm is triggered. If you want to set up the parking light way check out the link I posted earlier.

Make sure you fuse your relay so you dont go burnin down the car if a wire grounds out or anything. I would have to agree with cjastacio ,you can hook it up to the parking lights but when the alarm is set off your neons will flash and flash, so if you just want them to blink when arm and disarm then hook them to the doorlock output.

If i do it to the negative door lock output from my alarm, wont it only flash when I lock? How would I do it si it works for lock and unlock? If I do it the parklight way, im assuming the underglow will automatically be on everytime i remote start the car as well?

ok, so lets say I isolate each door lock wire, its still only going to give me a single blink with lock and unlock.. I basically wanted it to flash once with lock, twice with unlock like the parklights do.. But I dont want the underglow on with the remote start..

Try putting your unlock on a double pulse, then it would blink once for lock and twice for unlock.

now that I think of it, lock is on double pulse. I think it had to be from what I remember to get all 4 door locks to open at the same time. Can you tell me exactly the relay diagram I need to do this? Also with the diodes, do I want the silver part facing which way?

You will want to wire, for each lock and unlock, as I showed above. In this configuration you don't need a diode. So again, you will need two relays. Each wired indevidually as described below, you will do one relay for lock and one relay for unlock.

85-> your door lock or lock output, since it is negative

86-> constant 12v (be sure to put a fuse)

87-> also constant 12v (be sure to put a fuse)

30-> to the power for your underbody

how about making the switching (trigger) wire comming off the siren 12v feed, that way when he turns o his lights, he doesnt nessisarily have to have on the underglow?

Good thinking but again when the siren sounds the underbody kit wil flash and that includes in the arm state.

When you say the arm state, do u mean the underbody kit will be on the entire time the car is armed? I want to do this soon, so im trying to figure out how to do this. I dont care how its accomplished, all i want is the underglow to flash according to the parklights/siren noise.

I decided that tapping the parklights is fine. I dont mind it flashing if the alarm goes off, it would be cool actually. Can someone tell me the relay diagram to do that
