Wow. I would of thought it'd be unrecognizable if hit head on at that speed.

I would love to hear more background on what the situation with the accident was. This could be good proof that the xB holds up well in accidents.

It was a combined speed. Each of us travelling at around 45-50 mph. I was driving home from my girlfriend's, and the gentlemen that hit me was reaching down to change his CD.

Apparently when you're in a head-on collision, they combine the speed of both people in the accident and put that speed on the report.

The guy was totally cool with it, we were both glad we weren't seriously injured. (I had minor whiplash, he was fine.)

He was driving a brand new 645 bmw. Apparently these are equipped with "black boxes" onto which it records speed at time of air-bag deployment, amount of pressure on the brake system etc.

Our xBs have the same black box - hopefully neither will be needed to determine insurance stuff.

Was the other drive given a citation?

Nope he didn't receive a citation.

His insurance is going to take care of everything. He's a cool guy, pretty wealthy so I'm not really worried.

I'll be driving my old beater civic around for a while though haha.
