2014 Scion FR-S Rings in New Model Year $525 Dearer
Some folks prefer buying a car in its second model year to let the manufacturer work out the bugs. Are you one of those people? If so, waiting for the 2014 Scion FR-S has cost you $525. The car’s price has gone up 2.1 percent to $25,455. In reality, though, your patience and prudence has paid off.
For 2014, Scion has made its 6.1-inch LCD touchscreen display standard across all model lines, including the FR-S. The “Scion Display Audio System” offers AM/FM/CD and HD Radio capability with Bluetooth streaming/hands-free, AUX and USB ports. We’ll say that standard feature alone makes the car 1.5 percent better.
The next change to the 2014 FR-S is a big deal for those who like coddling. Scion has added knee cushions to the door panels and sides of the center console. You’d be surprised what a difference simple pads can make. We’ll add 1.2 percent to 2014’s improvement score.
Total the figures and you’ve got a 2014 Scion FR-S that is 2.7 percent better than the 2013 model for only 2.1 percent more money. See, it pays to be patient. We’ve actually done the calculations — patience pays exactly $148.11.
