If you’re really serious about getting into one of the Toyobaru twins, the Scion is going to be the less expensive option. The list price is lower by about $250, but that’s only half the story. If you’re a student you get a discount. If you were in the military, you get a discount. You may not get all the options you might be able to get in the Subie, but who needs ’em? Especially if you’re considering the next option.
