Can You Endure Three More Years Until The Next New Scion?
These are hard times for Scion fans. First your heart was tossed in the trash compactor when Toyota announced there were no plans for any new or redesigned Scions in the “near future”. The trash compactor went into full compress mode when you learned the FR-S convertible was delayed indefinitely. Now it’s time to light the trash compactor and all its contents on fire, for we now know what “near future” means in Toyota PR-speak: three years. Doesn’t that sting?
Here’s what Edmunds is reporting:
Toyota says the Great Recession and Japan’s 2011 tsunami disaster are two issues, among others, that are slowing things down in the new-product pipeline.
Question of the day: can you wait three more years for a new Scion model, or will other automakers earn your patronage during that time?
UPDATE: According to a recent report from Edmunds, Scion is anticipated to introduce a redesigned xB for 2015. They also mentioned that Scion wants to build a four-door FR-S, but they need the help of Subaru to do it. At the very least, Scion will be releasing one new model in the next two years alongside upgrades to their current product line. Phew. It looks like Scion isn’t resting on it’s laurels after all.
