The Toyota FT-1 Concept is Delicious!
Gaaahhhh, I’m in love with the Toyota FT-1 concept. At first I thought it looked kind of weird, especially in the photos out of the auto show. Then I saw it in person and everything else faded away.
At that moment I knew I needed this car to be built. I knew I needed to work my ass off with this journalism thing so that when this is finally released, I would get to drive it.
I even wrote a letter on Jalopnik asking and pleading with Akio to please, please make this a reality, and it looks like my dreams are really starting to take shape.
If you haven’t read any of my pieces lately, I’ll forgive you, but Pebble Beach is going on right now, and all the manufacturers are scurrying about to come up with some killer concepts and reveal some killer production vehicles.
Toyota went the first route and brought back the FT-1 concept, but gave it a new paint job, and a new interior, both of which are utterly delicious.
The graphite paint sets this car off so well, it looks mean as all get up. And it just gives this car a sinister look and feel, both of which match up to the car’s body lines perfectly.
The color is almost a gunmetal, and that coupled with the wheels, and black bits around the car just make me want it more and more!
The interior gets a refresh too, with the trim and seats all being reupholstered. The seats are now a vintage looking cowhide with the same type of graphite paint around the structure of the seat frame.
It’s much more refined than the first concept we saw. It looks more production based, or how a production interior could look. Rather than all crazy concept-y.
I just don’t know how not to gush about this car. Please Akio, stop making me nuts, just build the damn thing!
