Gazoo Racing GRMN Concept Appears Ahead of Tokyo Auto Salon
You might recognize the name Gazoo Racing if you’re a fan of Lexus as well as Scion. They’re the guys who took the LFA to the Nurburgring 24hrs and won. Now, they’re turning their attention to the only other true sports car Toyota’s stable: the FR-S. They call this the GRMN Sports FR Concept Platinum.

I think calling this a body-kit would be a disservice to Gazoo Racing. It’s more like a total conversion. Gazoo Racing GRMN Concept Appears Ahead of Tokyo Auto SalonIt actually looks a lot like the Mitsubishi FTO. That front-wheel-drive coupe never made it to the states, but it DID show up in Gran Turismo. The taillights make me think of the fourth gen Supra. Those are both good things, I think, as both cars were style icons of their time. Admittedly, that time was the 90’s, but whatever. Cars in the 90’s looked pretty sweet.

Gazoo also went to work under the hood. Their concept still has the same boxer four-cylinder, but with a turbo and a supercharger thrown into the mix. On the plus side, the engine response of this thing has to be amazing. I still think the could’ve pushed the envelope though. 325 isn’t really anything to sneeze at, but I want to see the FR-S outrunning Porsches. It’s also got bucket seats to hold your butt in place while running through the canyons and a roll cage to keep you from dying when you fly through the guardrails.
