Generation Next: Meet the 2014 Scion tC
The overall shape of the car remains the same, but Scion has made some tweaks. The front end is the biggest change. Scion’s swapped in a larger front grill in addition to the new, angular headlights. They’ve also thrown in some LED running gear on the front. For modernity’s sake. Other changes to exterior include LED tail-lights as well.
Scion has left the tC’s 170hp 2-liter lump untouched, but they’ve made a few changes in the transmission department. The 2014’s automatic transmission is twice as fast as the outgoing model’s. It’ll even blip the throttle for downshifts, just like in a real sports car. Or you could, you know, just get the six-speed manual and do all that stuff yourself. They’ve also stiffened up the chassis with spot welded body, revised shocks and stabilizer bars, and a retuned electric steering system.
This should all add up to a more sporty experience for new tC owners. Ideally, this’ll bring the tC closer to the long lost Celica. All I’m hoping for is a high-performance model to show up. Considering the tC makes up 40% of Scions sales… Why not?
