“Monster” Tajima Crashes in a GT86 Racecar
Crashes happen in motorsport. If you’re a racer, you know this. They even happen to racecar drivers that have been behind the wheel since before they could walk. It’s just a matter of time before crashes happen. Such is the case with Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima.
Now, some of you may know “Monster” Tajima’s name if you follow the world of hill climbs, specifically Pikes Peak. The man has more records there than almost any other racer alive. And there’s a reason for that: he’s insane. Well that and he’s a ridiculously good driver. That’s why this next crash is so incredible.
In the clip below, “Monster” Tajima is in his newest hill climb car, a Toyota GT86 that’s been dubbed the Super 86, for obvious reasons. In the clip, “Monster” is traveling at ridiculous speeds on the dirt when part of his aero flies off and sends him into a spin.
Now this couldn’t have happened at a worse part of the course. Where Tajima crashes, there’s a bit of a drop off, nothing like the cliffs he just passed, but something far more dangerous. In those locations, cars tend to catch air, then tumble, and by tumble I mean roll. By sheer luck, the car stayed flat over the drop off and continued unimpeded until it finally stopped. Thankfully, Tajima escaped unscathed, a claim that his racecar can’t make.
