New Toyota Concept Takes Spiritual Cues From Scion xB

With the imminent lack of Scion coming, we’re kind of running out of Scion stories to tell. So here’s a story about the “spiritual successor” to the Scion xB.

At least that’s what Car & Driver is calling this Toyota concept car, the uBox, which picks up where the “once revolutionary” xB stopped being revolutionary.

Over the course of two years, the car was designed and engineered by graduate students at Clemson University’s International Center for Automotive Research and the Art Center College of Design. The car features detachable parts, many of which were created on a 3D printer.

Check out that impressive windshield comprised of two prominently featured carbon fiber and aluminum rails. It doesn’t just look cool; it also provides structural rigidity at the same time. And even better, the team says the design can be easily and affordably produced at scale.

The electric car is fully outfitted with outlets all over, including behind the headlights. The seats are on rails, so you can squish them together and fit more stuff. And the color is teal. Very teal.

So what do you think? Would Scion still have a future if they had the uBox to sell?
