Refreshed GT86 Coming Soon
Earlier this week, with the entirety of the automotive news industry focused on the Frankfurt Auto Show, Toyota decided to go out and test the upcoming refresh of the GT86 sportscar. And judging from AutoEvolution‘s spy photos, we can say that most of the car looks almost identical to the previous one.
Now, some of you may think that it would be pretty dumb for Toyota to not change up the GT86 drastically, especially due to the slow sales of the car over the last year. And we’d agree with you on that. From the pictures we’ve seen, it’s far too light of an approach in terms of style changes.
With that said, according to some recent rumors, the updated GT86 will receive a bump in horsepower like everyone wanted. Here’s the bad news though, those rumors peg the power bump being around the 5% gain area. Stupendously short of where it really needs to be.
The question then becomes: can Toyota, and in part Subaru, attract more buyers with just a slightly revised front and rear, and a modest power gain? We hope so, we definitely don’t want this little car to go the way of the MR2.
