The Scions of the Formula DRIFT Car Show at Streets of Long Beach
A Scion FR-S with a Coyote V8? You’re bound to see anything on display at a Formula DRIFT event. Here’s a gallery of several Scions I saw at Formula DRIFT 2015 Round 1: Streets of Long Beach. I’ve also included some of the action on the track.
There’s a lot to experience at a Formula DRIFT event, as you’ll see in the photo galleries. As mesmerizing as the 90-mph tail-out action is (actually, it’s nigh on life-changing), seeing stuff like this V8 FR-S made me nearly as weak in the knees as the drifting action.
This was my first Formula DRIFT event, and I came away from it with two life lessons:
1) Even if you’re not a racing fan (like me) Formula DRIFT will have you hooked.
2) The vehicles on display at the event, whether in the car show section or in the vendor booths, are an attraction in themselves. You know those g-force-activated inflatable seat bolsters in the BMW M5? The show cars bolstered this Formula DRIFT event as nicely as those M5 seat bolsters.
