Photo of the Week: Scion FR-S GT by Daniel Song

Can you believe this FR-S “GT” only placed a measly third in the 2012 Scion Tuner Challenge? Can you believe Daniel Song, the guy who built this special Scion, pieced it together in his garage with many from-scratch parts? We’re qualified in saying this car is unbelievable, right?

Although Song’s build received less appreciation than he had anticipated in the Scion Tuner Challenge, reception from other parties more than made up for love lost.

Forum users voted Song’s FR-S number-one, Motor Trend and Car and Driver picked it among their top-five SEMA favorites … it was even featured on Top Gear’s Web site.

Although this car was a third-place finisher, Scion will use it in car shows across the United States. You may recall Scion provides builders with a car to modify for the Scion Tuner Challenge, so now that the FR-S GT is in Scion’s possession, Song would like to buy his own FR-S and perhaps transform it into an FR-S GT. We hope that’s what he decides to do, for this car is too cool to be a one-off.
