The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach wrapped up last weekend, and along with it, the Scion Celebrity race. They have the event every year. 2013 was a little bit different as this was the first year with the FR-S. As you might expect, the racing was far more interesting than it was in years pass. It turns out the FR-S is a little bit harder to handle than the tC.
Top Gear USA host Rutledge Wood took the win after battling with Mark Stienes and Brett Davern. He was definitely a favorite. Besides being the host of a television show about cars, he also managed to snag pole position in qualifying. This is his first time in the Pro celebrity race, but if he comes back next year, I think he’ll wind up in the Pro category.
Comedian and all-around car guy, Adam Corolla, finished first in the Pro category. He’s a veteran of this event. Even though he started in last he was able to work his way through the field to first.
There was only one “incident” on the track. I know, I’m disappointed too. Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer spun his car, but managed to keep it out of the wall and all other contact. Otherwise, it was a pretty clean race.
