Scion Unleashes tC Release Series 9.0
In the last few years, Scion has been floundering while trying to come up with ideas on the best way to come back as a dominant global force.
Some of these ideas are completely ridiculous, like bringing the new sedan and the iM to market. While I’ve been quick to criticize those gems, one idea that I’m still not sure about is the plan to start releasing special editions, the newest being the tC Release Series 9.0.
Scion collaborated with Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs to build a car that will hopefully help raise the company from the ashes. The new car has a two-tone paint scheme, blacked-out accents, new aero kit, TRD lowering springs, and TRD exhaust.
Essentially, it’s been tarted up to not seem as old as it is. What Scion is trying to do is imitate the aftermarket scene, before the car is in the hands of the customers. Which is why this will not work.
The aftermarket is holy ground, it allows the customer to tune and modify to their own personal specifications. This tC comes with all these things standard, which is likely to turn people off, since they don’t really hold the power to truly customize their own ride.
Scion, it’s time to get real. Build something cool that we the people can modify, not something you’ve already done “for us”.
