Subaru BRZ tS STI Is THE 86 Twin to Own
As with most good things, the United States JDM market gets nothing compared to what everyone else gets overseas. The latest example: the Subaru BRZ tS is getting the STI treatment with a whole host of new goodies to make the already track focused car just a little bit more capable. Of course, there’s still no power increase for the 2.0L naturally aspirated boxer motor, but the STI engineers have built a much more capable performer.
This BRZ tS STI will be limited to only 300 units, and will sell for around $33,000. For that, you’ll get a set of STI designed 18-inch forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sports, new suspension geometry including STI tuned inverted strut front suspension, and a new set of coils. The rear suspension gets new dampers and lateral links with new bushings and a larger diameter drive shaft to take extra force. You’ll also get a new set of Brembo sourced four piston calipers and larger rotors. And a mess of cosmetic changes.
The interior features a set of new Recaro designed bucket seats trimmed in Alcantara and a bunch of STI badged pieces, like a new shift knob, steering wheel, and starter button.
Can I just say this, though: I’m tired of Japan getting all the cool stuff. Toyota should definitely bring this variation over to the U.S. Who’s with me?
