Subaru Confirms Next Gen GT86
When the likes of Toyota and Subaru came together to make a car, most of us thought that they were talking about another boring econobox. Then Akio Toyoda stepped in and showed off the GT86 concept and we were all floored. A lightweight, inexpensive, RWD coupe?! We never thought it would make production. But then it did, and there’s even one in my garage right now!
That however was a few years ago and now reports are starting to come out about the next generation of the lightweight sportscar. Now there have been multiple rumors circling that the relationship between the two automakers was strained due to the constraint of sales imposed on Subaru, but according to Australia’s Motoring, the two are still best buds and can’t wait to start the process again and redefine the GT86 Toyobaru twins asap.
The publication snagged a brief statement from Toyota’s Euro Vice President who stated, “We are pretty serious about keeping the GT86 pre and keeping a car like that in our lineup. We don’t wat to lose that again.”
So there you have it folks, confirmation that Subaru and Toyota will stay as partners at least until the next generation of twins is born. Personally, I just hope it has more horsepower. I love it to death, but seriously guys, it needs more ponies.
