06 Miata... I mean MX-5. What do you guys think?

I love the new design. And I love the fact that they gave it some power (almost as quick as the old Mazdaspeed turbo model). What I don't like is the word that I've gotten that the new engine will not stand up well to forced induction. One of the greatest things about the old 1.8l Miatas is the multitude of aftermarket turbo/supercharger kits that could help a fun lightweight sports car turn into an almost supercar-like track monster. The 1.8l NA and NB Miatas are probably *the* most underrated of tuner cars.
Honestly for road racing, there aren't a lot of better tuning platforms out there that don't say Porsche or Lotus on them.

I've driven a new 6 speed model. The computer intervention and the electronic throttle kill the experience though. The car tries to compensate to much, and it isn't as much fun as my friends 94 1.8L because of it.

I currently own a '91 MX-5 and needless to say, I love it (and the xB will not be its replacement). My wife finds it "impractical", but it requires very little maintinance and runs great. I test drive the '06 on Nov. 1 (when it came out), and was truly impressed, although it does feel a bit bigger and heavier.
The day I replace my little roadster is the day that Scion sells a roadster. By the way, the Miata made the Automobile Mag's top 20 cars.
