06 Scion TC vs. 06 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Hey whats up everyone,
I am trying to figure out which car is better overall the 06 Scion TC or the 06 Mitsubishi Eclipse. These are the only 2 new cars out there within the price range that I can afford, excluding Hondas and Acuras. My dad was telling me that Mitsubishi engines are poorly made and that the TC's engine will last longer.
The Prices are:
$16840 for 06 Scion TC [$215 monthly]
$19399 for 06 Mitsubishi Eclipse [$265.63 monthly]
So, I need your opinions on which car has a better quality engine overall and which car has a better interior/exterior.
Thanks for your help.

Your dad is probably right. The tC is a proven Toyota engine. The powerhouse for the tC is the same engine that is in the Camry (different gearing of course). The Eclipse will be faster and is more of a sports car. The tC on the other hand is more of a luxury/sport. It is a comfortable car with many impressive standard features (I sound like a tv commercial), but still has power waiting if you want to engage in any "spirited driving". The tC is a great car that I have loved ever since I have laid eyes on it. Plus, Scion provides excellent customer service and is geared more towards younger adults. I have sat in the new Eclipses and don't like them at all. The tC is leaps and bounds ahead in comfort. Hope this helps. Good luck.

its not that the eniges wear out, the transmissions suck. i wouldnt pick a mitsu over a toyota..cuz deep down thats what a scion is if you didnt know. i too was debating over the same issue, and four months later i am happy with what i chose. the tC is just so much more comfortable, its really nicely laid out...and everything about it is awesome. i do not like the sunroof, but thats it. everyone loves the glass roof, but not me..i would prefer metal over my head. but the tC's handling is pretty good, and the performance isnt to shabby either. also with the money you save on a tC you could buy some nice aftermarket parts. also where in p-town are you, and what school do you go to?

So far I'm the only one that voted for the Eclipse. Don't get me wrong, I love my tC, but I really wanted the new Eclipse. It just wasn't out when I bought a new car (had to--couldn't wait--totalled my other one).
It's true though. Mitsubishi car are much better than they used to be, but the Toyota engine will still last longer.

I lovED the eclipses growing up. But since they changed them in 2000, i dont like them one bit. If they came back with the AWD turbo and a decent look I would but one. Its kinda like the Si. But I think my problem with cars is, if I liked them as a teenager, I cant seem to like the replacements. Like the RX8. I love the car, but I loved the RX7 even more and hate that they changed it, so there is no way I would EVER buy an RX8. And the MR2, same thing. I think the only car from the 90's they improved in 2000+ is the celica.
