Default 1976 Datsun 280Z 2+2

Alright, my dads forman at work is selling a 76' Datsun 280Z 2+2 for 1600 OBO.
So far from what I know (haven't seen it yet) The motor runs, it needs paint, headliner, and a few other small things. I haven't seen any pictures of it yet so I can't see how the body condition is. But my dad might get it for me and my brother as like a project car, then when it actually comes down to it, me and my brother would decide who gets which car (Since I can't drive til' I'm 17 1/2)Would you say this is a good deal or not? They are pretty rare. And I bow down to it every time I see one. But here are some pros and cons of it, and some ideas I had if we do get it.

Pros-
No smog
No dB limit

Cons-
Has to be restored (Not sure if that really matters, I would probably end up changing it up anyway)

But as far as paint if we do get it, either Panda or yellow/black.
The tC will still be getting mods, just that there will be another car in the picture.

it was just that there were so many problems that we took to get fixed, but the problems constantly came back. i really wasn't really knowledgeable with cars yet, so i'm not sure exactly what was wrong, but the car would just break down, won't start all that stuff. it was some kind of a 80s or 90s maxima. so my parents finally sold the car, and invested in a toyota, which hasn't given us any problems yet.

I use to have a 260z.. fun car to drive...mine was a 5speed..
It depends on how bad the body is.. They rust like theres no tomorrow..
It comes down to " how deep is your pocket " ?? If this is going to be a daily driver, I say forgetaboutit....as a weekend car maybe.. I still have my project car.. a 1967 LOTUS EUROPA...going on 20 years or so.. still a Project...
look for a newer car, It may be safer in your case...

Keith.

Hmmm I see.
Good point about the daily driver deal.
What other cars are there under 82' that are from Japan?

280Z's are so cool! When they're modified right, they can look incredibly nice!

But IDK, I really want to finish off the tC. Theres still so much to be done (BBK, new rims, audio, better turbo) and I'm not sure if I should take on this project. Yeah, we have 5 years to do it, but.....

Just keep the Z. In the end, if you never use it you can sell it. But if you can pull it off, get to modding that Z!
