Compared to a Civic Si. the tC is a torque monster.

The Si isnt even out yet. The engine spec has not even been released either. Dyno plots have not been released either. So how do you know how well the civic si engine performs?

Its not just about peak torque either.

no but I have raced si and kicked their asses with a stock tc... and torque does out weigh horse power in a street race with hp numbers are so close...

The current Si motor has 160hp. The new Si motor will have 200hp.

We are talking about the 2006 civic here, no?

Yes.. it's the same engine that's in the RSX Type S. That's the strangest thing about this new Civic Si, is that it seems to compete so much with the RSX-S on every level.

Maybe the future of the RSX is limited *shrug* who knows.

Actually, it seems like the new Civic Si will handle better than the RSX Type S since it will come with a LSD and it will be offered with the option of High Performance Tires.

If Honda can keep the price of the Si competetive, like around 21k, I also dont see a future for the RSX.

IMO, the only appeal of the tC is the price. From a performance and style perspective it is "just another coupe". Having said that, I believe that the Civics will continue to sell well, maybe even better than before.

eh, the new civic resembles the new eclipse alot, and there both ugly in my opinion, even though it has 200hp i dont think it will sell to well.

I do. Because the Si is ugly, whereas the RSX is not. I mean I've definitely seen worse, but it doesn't compare to the RSX in the looks department period.

i belive that there is a future for the RSX.....since the Civic SI will get increased hp, so will the rsx and the type-s......the rsx is the only coupe that acura has in its lineup right now and it is the most affordable in its lineup...i doubt they will give it up

Not sure. I was told that it was the same engine by a friend of mine who has an RSX-S and reads the honda forums. It could have been just a rumor early on. I haven't read it from any source that I'd consider reliable.

Here it is straight from the horse's mouth:
http://automobiles.honda.com/civics/email.aspx

"The Civic Si is also expected to include a more advanced K20 engine with a 6-speed, manual transmission."

So it will be a K series variant.

The fact that the RSX still remains in the Acura lineup is precisely why Acura may want to get rid of it. What other luxury nameplate has a car that can be bought for around 20k? None.

BTW the RSX is a hatchback not a coupe. The coupe that Acura used to have was the CL. Acura does plan to bring back a performance coupe, but it wont be cheap.

A Civic is a Civic... as well as Integra will be an Integra

Now a tC.. thats a different story. You could say a tC is a tC but man... it's just that new. So yeah, I'm all about looks and a Civic is just plain Fugly.

I don't really care much for specs, tho i still do because I do drive a xB haha...

But Id still drive a tC over a Civic...then again, I'd choose a STi or an Evolution over a tC hahahah

Opinions are like _______s... everyone has one.

I for one dont find the xb attractive at all. I do like the styling of the tc.

I will wait to see the new Si in person before I make a judgement.

first it was the korean automakers that made blatant design copies of other's car designs, now honda is doing it -- this time with the civic.
anyone else notice the similarity with the front styling of the civic and the saturn ion? or how about the audi-like rear taillight treatment? hmm...
still, it will probably sell well to the honda devotees

civic front

saturn ion front

civic rear taillights

audi A4 taillights
