personally, i was thinking of trading in my fully paid off auto tc for a 5 speed tc. i dont know how much it would cost me, and if the cost would be worth it in the end. anyone know how much this would be about?

getting a new wrx is out of the question...just too much money.

we live on staten island, i know lots of people who have owned manuals here and they say its the worst decision theyve ever made.

yea true. i guess autos have advantages too. i would really hate to get stuck in city traffic with a stick. i rarely go into the city anyway, i have 18" rims and s-techs, so i dont think id be too good with those dips and potholes.

So which model did you opt for and if you don't mind, how much? I'm drooling over the 06 WRX as well, and as soon as I move in to my new home w/my lady I'm gonna start looking.

i got the tr because im eventually gonna change everthing out anyway. out the door it came to about 25k with lojack.

oh and steel grey is the color that i got.

so far i love everything about it. my only complaint would be the cheap ___ interior. the car handles like a beaut! not nearly as much sway as the tc. the gear box feels nice shifts are real smooth through out the gears. the entire car just feels much more solid then the tc. oh yeah and NO WHEEL HOP!!! if theres any spicific questions that you would like to ask about it let me know and i be happy to ask. ill start a new thread soon with picts and review of the car.

Sounds like a great choice. Glad you're happy w/it. I'll have to order one w/my options of choice b/c I really wanna keep the price down.

I know what you mean on the wheel hop...if you're turning and getting on it, the thing is bouncing like crazy on the inside wheel. Part of front wheel drive I guess.

I've done a bit of checking on the WRX TR and I figured I'd just go with the standard WRX b/c it's only approx. $1,000 more. Over the life of a loan it's not a lot to spend.

My main reason for changing over is b/c I bought the xA for the high GPM but overall it hasn't been getting more than 30-33 max. Operating with so few ponies and not getting high GPM as a trade off is just not satisfying...and I'm sure that's one of the reasons you bailed on Scion.

Anyhow, looking forward to the pics.

Shoulda gotten the 17" rims and big breaks! With the insurance, gas, and payments you are never going to be able to afford the $7000 to upgrade them later.

Good choice though! WRX's are a very nice car (in any year). Avoid dumping the clutch and MBCs.

This whole stuck in traffic with a stick complaint/whine is amazing.
Either you enjoy driving with a stick or you don't.
And if you do, you should love shifting. Even, when its difficult.
OMG, ya gotta do a little work for your fun.
Egads, the horror of it all.

The WRX is a great choice. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, I know I do.

Notably, the word on the street is that with Cobb Stage 2 you can actually hit around 28mpg on the highway. That's while making around 290hp. I get about 24-25mpg with Stage 1 right now. If I wind up upgrading soon, I'll let you know.

As an alternative, I will say that I am kicking myself right now for not getting a Legacy GT. Nobody seems to recognize what a total and utter sleeper that car is. It's monstrous, and it's much nicer than the WRX.

Well, you have to run premium gas, but the maintainance costs aren't really much different from anything else. Maybe 120,000 miles down the line when the turbo is due for a replacement (hell, just upgrade it at that point) I could see.
