The 2006 WRX TR does not run mid to low 13's. The STi does however run mid to low 13's. It does not have the same motor as the STi they simply switched from the 2.0 to a 2.5, if it had the same motor it would also have the same power. Evo8/9 > STi > WRX. The WRX goes down the 1320 in the 14 second range.

what exhaust are you thinking of puttiing on your wrx?
im trying to find one that i really like.

and yes the new legacy gt kicks @$$.
I'm probably going with Cobb's exhaust. I thought about doing like a Turbo XS downpipe to an HKS Hi-Power or Carbon Ti but I'm worried about fitment issues. Plus I won't have the high-flow cat that comes with the Cobb. The Cobb one looks really nice, I like the company, and the Stage 2 map was really *designed* to run with the Cobb exhaust. I know any 3" bell-mouth downpipe will work, but I'd take more comfort knowing the map was actually tuned with *my* downpipe.

That's if I don't just trade this car and start building a Legacy GT, which may be happening shortly.

Actually, there are plenty of stock WRXs running 13s. Though admittedly, it probably takes every trick in the book (good driver, hard launch, ice on the intercooler, good tires/pressure, weight reduction, etc.). Also, the new 2.5 liter engine is indeed the same EJ25 engine from the STI. It has a different ecu map/turbo/intercooler/uppipe and I think possibly different pistons. The motor itself is the same, and is shared throughout most of Subaru's lineup.

the turbo legacy gt has the same power rating as the 06 wrx but the times of the 02-03 wrx. my guess it that they have different gearing. and i think the new gt comes n/a and turboed.

The Legacy GT has 250hp to the WRX's 230hp and runs noticably faster in the quarter and especially in top end.

The standard Legacy 2.5i is naturally aspirated. The Legacy GT and Spec B are turbocharged.

i dont think the legacy gt is faster than the 06 wrx. they have the same engine size. from what i understand is that the wrx is quicker than the legacy gt.

i could be wrong though

Road and Track ran a 13.7 quarter in the Legacy GT. It's a monster sleeper of a car. it is indeed more powerful and faster than the WRX. I drive a WRX, I would know. With mild tuning, the LGT is actually faster than an STI. Wolf in sheep's clothing.

All of Subaru's 4-cyls are the same size engine in the US now. Hell, they're the same block. And they vary widely in power due to differences in the ecu programming as well as intake/exhaust/turbo systems.

i was very close to buying an 06 steel gray wagon. i even started buying parts for it.

its a great car. the tranny has revised syncros, but still not bulletproof. and the motor is very different from an sti ej257. i believe the fastest stock 1/4 was 13.8 seconds, IIRC from nasioc.

awesome car, you should pm me if you want to buy a pair of 06 steel grey STi foglight covers. bought em before i even bought the car, then ended up not getting it.

you have to take into effect that the wrx dynos 200awhp stock and 230lb-ft of torque, on the 06s. its very underrated from the factory.

Actually, I think they're often dynoing slightly higher (205-210 range), but the GT is still faster. It's presumably underrated as well, though the only dyno I've seen put it at about 200hp to the wheels also. It's a mystery.
