IS 250 performance
Did you guys see the Specs on the IS 250 according to lexus?
They are horrendous. 7.9 second 0-60 for the IS250 RWD, and 8.3 0-60 for the AWD.
Mind you the AWD is250 is almost 3,700 lbs.

That's why it comes in two trims. The IS350 leads it's class in performance, but Lexus still offers an IS cheap enough for people who just want the luxury.
Personally, I don't really care about performance or racing (xB driver) so I would totally rock an IS250...
I'd shave the badge though.

i remember test driving the is350 with the car full of grown adults and ac on.
all i can say is "wow"
my favorite car was a g35 coupe, until that car. i even accidentally gave it a flat on the drive, but the guy told me to keep going anyway.
i dont think they'll offer the 6spd for the 350, probably because it already has a 6spd auto w/ paddle shifters. personally i like shifting better with the actual shifter. the paddle deal doesnt work for me when taking turns.

I think the 250 would still be a blast to drive. Although, from what I can gather, other than the powertrain in the 350, both models are less "enthusiast" in nature than their predecessor. (IS300) This isn't a bad thing of course, and I think Lexus has given up on the idea of a "3-Series" fighter and gone with simply "luxury/sport coupe" instead.

t2BDetermined--actually, from everything that I've read in all the car mags regarding the new IS 350, it's supposed to actually take closer aim at the 3 series. A common complaint about the last generation of IS was that it wasn't Lexus-luxury-like enough, and they seemed to have fixed that. With the new IS 350 they now have the fastest car in that class, but all the mags say that the chassis and steering are close but still can't beat the 3 series. Pretty darn close though...

i like the AWD option for the 350.......all around it think its a awesome car, I think thier are issues when honda and toyota rebadge a JDM or euro car and sell it here as a luxury car like they did with the old IS, it ends up lacking something somewhere....
I think it does take a direct aim at the C class and 3 series, it is an obvious choice, for the money and the amenities offered in the IS 250, or 350 its a better value ...
the c class is junk and has major fit and finnish issues, and the 3 series is just ugly

On a sidenote, with a Cobb turboback exhaust and reflash the Legacy puts down 305hp and 345lb feet of torque. Yow.
If I can cut a good deal on one, out with the WRX and in with the sleeper.

I read that Road and Track article too, aside from giving some extra perks to the Audi for luxury and namesake that was one of the best comparisons as well as most unbiased as apposed to say Car and Drive. At least they didn't give the Mazdaspeed6 a too bad of a rap, aside from their apparent dislike of two tone interiors and gave the Legacy Spec B a pretty justifiable rating. Even though I think its interior is of a bit better quality than they suggested.
I still wish they gave the Spec B the STi 6 speed though, but that can always be swapped later. And about that Cobb exhaust plus reflash mod, wow.
Anyway how smooth and easy is the 5 speed manual to use, my dad wants to get a WRX but is also considering something of an actual sized sedan and the only thing really holding him back from a Legacy or ecspecially Spec B is the fact that it only comes with a manual tranny? I understand the 5 speed in the Legacy is pretty much the same as the WRX.

Lexus IS250/350 is exactly that on Japan. There is no JDM twin. Maybe the Toyota Mark X, but that's it. Lexus is now mainstream in Japan as well as Infiniti and now Acura. I thought it was funny see a Nissan Fuga AND the M45 cruising together. Same exact xar that I could tell.
