actually to my knowledge they are having issues with the trans because of the new synchro mesh feature thing..I would weight to till the next model year or 2 before buying a 370z but that's just me..don't get me wrong I absolutely love the way to the car looks but I'd hold off.

That being said..

The evo is a nice car but has a crappy interior and the STI IMO is just an all around nice car..with the STI being a more convenient car to have as a DD..and of course the 370z is a two seater..it really depends more on what your buddy wants out of a car.

I would say the look of the 370z is a downgrade, im not feeling it.. though the engine is better, i would prefer to get a nizmo 350z version and add some forced induction on it..

I love the old nismo z look better

If you read up on it the thing about the 370z is that the redesign was more about function than form, it shed off so much weight that the 1/4 mile time for the base 370z was better than the nismo 350z. and i think the transmission that was mentioned before had something to do with it as well, but the reviews seemed to put more emphasis on the weight loss.

I looked into the g37. the sedan hits 13.5 and the coupe hits 13.9.

Aren't coupes supposed to be sportier and faster than sedans? hp is about the same the coupe makes 330 and the sedan 328, and wouldnt the lack of two doors make the coupe lighter? im totally lost, can one of our gearheads please explain this to me?

what generation sti are we talking about here ?

370 handles nice , and rides better than the ol 350 but i think it's HIDEOUS

i'd pick the blob eye sti over all others as the mitsu quality just isn't there even if the car is quick

Not really..there are plenty of 350Zs that are breaking 800whp barrier no problem. VQ was top ten best engines of all time. 370Z will have no trouble breaking 600 barrier with a turbo and a few other mods. You need to be heavily modded to break 800whp with Evo X and STi. Its common sense that a six cylinder will yield more power.

As for handling..yea awd pwns all but remember, 370Z was able to remain 4 seconds behind GTR on many tracks. These comments are not intently directed to you Jon. Im just saying this for the general public.

2010 Acura TL 6-Speed SH-AWD with HPT and the RonJon Grille. I know not a lot of people like them but thats what I would get.

Or even with the stock grille...

Actually my aunt has the TL..its ok nothing special. I rather get something that feels fun to drive. If I was gonna get a luxury sedan, I might as well get the Lexus GS or something better.

Does she have the 09-10? That car is fun as hell!!! Especially the 6-speed. I have an 03 TL-S and its definitely more luxury than sport and the 04-07 are the same way and the 07-08 is just bleh.

he doesn't want to buy used so assume that we're talking only current generation for all cars. brand new.

last time I checked the 370z sports package is heavier than the 350z nismo something like 40 lbs +/-, i could be wrong though.. maybe the base model is lighter but i think its not much somewhere less than 100lbs difference. But I think the better performance from the 370 is from the 3.7liter vs the old 3.5L plus it has better handling from better suspension and chassis I think.

oh , well that makes all of the options a bit bland .

guess it depends more on whether he wants awd or rwd and if he lives in a smog hellhole like cali and now more and more states

370z, but it's a hard choice between that and the STi

I would go with the 370Z. I drove a 350, all stock with the exception of the Nismo axle-back exhaust, and it was a total game-changer. Totally fell in love with the engine's torque, 6-speed, and of course that exhaust note. I'm sure the newer 370 would be a similar drive, so that's my pick.

Also, I'm partial to the 2-door cars.

thanks for all the input everyone!! I spoke to my boy and told him bout some of the stuff that was said on here, and after taking what y'all said and what he's found on his own under consideration here's an update:

he's no longer considering the evo, but he's now considering two more options, camaro 2ss, and shelby gt500. So it's between those two, the nismo 370z, and the subaru wrx sti.

So given the new options, now what would you choose? And i know most of us might choose the sti simply because its the cheapest, and its still damn good, therefore some might say it gives you the most bang for your buck(I know its what i'd pick). But money's not really an issue for him (parents own over 30 dairy queens down here) so let me rephrase the question: Assuming u are this guy and you're only looking at what each car can offer and you're ignoring the price tag, which of the four would you choose and why?

Thanks again to all those who have given input so far, and thanks in advance for anymore input!
