According to the guys at Element Tuning who are very well respected, they get the most power with the K&N SRI. After I get a turbo back exhaust Ill have a mild tune done in order to bring it all together...Im also looking forward to hearing the sound with SRI...Im also told the stock BOV is louder with an intake too

Rhyan, you're almost right. The intake on the STI is far sufficient until the 500hp range. SRI and CAI actually degrade your performance as well as BOV, springs, ETC. Is all about your MAF positioning in relationship to the intake and Air/fuel ratios that will be altered. For safe STI performance try Cobb Tunning, you must retune an STI after the any mod. Where the STI needs attention is not in power but in handling. Excess body roll, understeering, mediocre endlinks. STI owners in various forums admitt to these characteristics but choose STI for daily driving confort. On the other hand you mentioned the word TRACK!

If you wanted to be on the track you should have gone Evo. Evos require a higher lever of alertness while on the wheel. Their feedback requires a constant involvement which contributes to the driving experience. The Evo offers a handling technology that you just cant bolt-on a STI. Individual traction control!!! Poeple think the STI is faster. Wrong. 1/4 mile and 0-60 Evo. Handling EVO. STI feel stronger as a result of the non-rally approved 2.5 displacement accounting for low end torque (smaller turbo). How can the Evo have a faster 1/4 mile with a smaller enginge, 19 psi on a bigger turbo, forged internals, superior intercooler. But who cares about power, if power was the goal than a 350z with TT=insanity. Is about the handling. dont forget about the stopping, Evo is 2nd to none. STI feels better in the inside and looking at the scoop through your windshield is cool. Much better car than the TC, but with gas prices and War I just think performance cars are best kept in the garage for now.

I actually had the option of getting an EVO9 through some of our friends at Mitsu for less than the STi, but the bottom line is that I just dont like the EVO inside or out. I know they are great track cars right out of the box, but this is a car I drive everyday and look at parked in fornt of the house. Ive driven and ridden in EVOs and they just dont do it for me. I know that with a few mods, the STi will hang with modded EVOs, and IMO, look a lot better doing it.
