anticipation - Nissan cube

Looks like the 2009 JDM and USDM models are VERY similar - essentially mirror images on the outside, with same nose and tail.
Interior is about the same, also, except for the front bench in the JDM and wrong side drive.
Should mean a LOT of JDM parts will be available for the US Cube...
Here's a really good photoset on the 2009 JDM Cube:

(The last of the three, the white one on the bottom, has some nice body bits that make the Cube look quite different...)

I like the idea that it has a 6-speed manual! That should help it get a bit better mpg, or very similar to what the xD can get(given same displacement engines).
Does Nissan have vvt on there engines ?
Still though, ultimately what it will all come down to is the test drive.
After 1-2 test drives, you'll know if its for you or not.

Here's a decent view of many of the details in a six and a half minute video.
Among other things, I like the look of the engine compartment a lot better in the USDM version...

And for those really wanting to get in on the ground floor, here's a Cube site that right now only has about a hundred members, but I expect to take off when the Cube finally hits the US.

(Yeah, I'm a n00b there...)

did you see this:

... wow, 1.4L + its a hybrid!!!
I still say the xB1 wins the duel.
Why?
1. xB1 will give better mpg (owners here have reported 38-40mpg average).
2. xB1 is more spacious inside = thus more versitle
3. its a Toyota !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nuff said! I think the Cube technicly came out first in Japan(199 , vs. the bB came out in what.. roughly 1999.
... still though, the Cube will be competitively priced, and I'm sure will sell well, given its fresh presence

Hey, I see you guys have already got your hands on some Nissan Cube pics. I work for MWKS, who's partnered with Nissan - here are some more photos in case you haven't seen them yet...
Feel free to use or share any of these however you'd like. You can see more official pictures and a teaser vid at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nissan...7996866?ref=ts or visit NissanUSA.com/cube if you're into it.

1. IT'S NOT MADE ANYMORE!
2. Most of them aren't going to have warranties anymore.
3. Grandmas doing 55 all of the time are getting 38-40 MPGs
Thats it, if people want a new car, it might have some aspects that are better, but they will not find a new one and that is key.
And actually the bB came out in 2002, same year as the Gen 2 Cube.

University Place, WA to Hamilton, MT and back, average highway speeds: 70, peak sustained highway speeds: 85, outside temp averages in the mid to high seventies, air conditioning running, slightly oversize tires, synthetic oil, Chevron regular unleaded when available, best other 91/93 octane gas when not. 2005 Scion xB automatic.
Total trip: 38.7 MPG
Don't say it can't be done.
Heck, I get around 27-30 in town...
(Worst mileage in same vehicle: 22 MPG when driving like a squirrel...)

Looks like Edmund's did a recent test of the JDM Cube. They also talk about the changes for the USDM Cube.

I might get one. (^_^ )

I want to see a review that includes some testing of the "e-AWD" system. I liked having AWD and don't mind paying the premium over a FWD at purchase, but can't justify the mileage drop for the few times a year it's useful.
I'd also want to know if CVT is reliable now. Several auto manufacturers have tried it over the years. Nissan seems to be the only one putting it in many models.
I hope they don't offer a bunch of different options that are linked. For example, I went to Nissan's site and built a Versa hatchback. I checked the box for $110 splash guards. Apparently splash guards are only available with the $650 "Convenience Package" and $250 "ABS Package". If you opt for the $700 "Sport Package", you must get the $650 "Convenience Package", $250 "ABS Package", AND the $600 "Moonroof Package". I hate that BS. They should just bundle it and call it a separate trim level.
The funny thing is that they'll have cars on the lot that don't match what they say is required. My Nissan Frontier had an option combination that the website said couldn't exist.

Only reason I think that is that I have done tons of research on the Cube and I have found nothing that says the US version is going to come with e-AWD.

I believe one of the biggest reasons the USDM version will not have e4WD is that the system precludes having a spare tire in the usual under-floor area of the rear - the e4WD motor and gearbox take up that space, and in Japan the e4WD model only comes with a tire patch kit instead of a compact spare...
