Ok, I got a 99 geo metro and found for ever degree you advance the cam, you lower the power band 250 rpms. Turns out you can buy modded cam gears and got a 10 degree one for my metro to drop the power band for more fuel economy and low end as the silly shift light tells you to shift too early and there is no power til 6 grand.

Anyway, Ive seen adjustible gears for other cars with vvt. My current car is a 2010 honda insight. I understand it has the same engine as the fit 1.3l sohc and that even though it has some sort of vvt, it too could benefit from advance the cam timing.

So, can anyone confirm this? Can I just slap on a modded fit or other model cam gear and crank it up a degree til it relocated the power band to 5 grand or too much and move it back?

Its a nice car, I have gotten anywhere fromn 44-79mpg, but it is very gutless and when you stomp it, it redlines, then takes it time going to 60.
