since the car is already turbocharged, making more power is a breeze by either increasing boost, swapping turbos, upgrading manifolds, bigger intercooler etc.
it could leave that z in the dust rain or shine.

You might have to wait a little for a dealer to have one in stock but it would be oh so worth it

Even the new Mustang gt is a good choice

if all you want is budget dollar performance, sure, the evox probably beats them all hands down. but the interior sucks, mitsubishi's reputation and reliability aren't as good, and if they don't start doing better, they might not stay in the US much longer.
you said best car for under 35 k, and for me, that is a subaru legacy. the car is fast, classy, handles well, has awd so you can use it rain or shine, has plenty of room inside with 4 doors and a big trunk.
depends on what you need or want from a car. the subaru to me is a much better value per dollar than the nissan or evo because the nissan lacks in versatility, and the evo lacks in quality and luxury. they also scream for cops to pull you over and harrass.
other good buys would be a toyota rav4 v6 AWD limited. if you want an SUV, but you can't get one with a manual, so that is a big no for me wanting one.

but no, my philosophy about cars is pretty much gran turismo, nothing in excess (except maybe horsepower). i like my cars fast and comfortible, and useful. i don't care for stripped interiors, or VIP seats and decorations, giant chrome rims, or a trunk full of subs and amps. they are nice on show cars and such, but really not for me in day to day life. my car reflects that, sport suspension, lsd, supercharter (soon to be replaced by a turbo), but i have leather seats, interior lights, once the turbo is in, i'll put in a nice little audio system, upgraded speakers and a stealth sub woofer so i don't lose trunk space. car will be respectably fast and comfy.

look, all i can say is when it comes to buying german cars...how much do their replacement parts cost? how hard is it to work on them?
bmw's don't even come with a friggan dipstick anymore for the oil cuz they want you to bring it to the dealership only.
an oil change on my dad's 03 cayenne S costs 210 dollars at a dealership, but we found a place that'll do it for 90 cuz it requires a special porsche oil filter, and uses like 8 quarts of mobil1.
then look at the cost of brake pads, clutches, tires, rotors, etc. i think i read that the turbochargers on the 335 are rated to last 60k miles, how much does it cost to replace those?
so while i love german sports cars, they are simply ridiculous to own these days.
also, is this thread about 35 k for a new car, or any car? cuz then it could go on forever! but i would then say used corvette z06.
