Camaro Concept
Ok, I KNOW that there's no way that I'm the first person to post about this, but I did like 10 searches looking for a thread about the 2006 Camaro Concept car and couldn't find any.. But if this is a repost, just lock it up ;P
I was browsing around on the net and found this:

I think it looks sweet, esp. the grille on the green one... I'd never buy a GM product, but it still looks sweet.
Sorry again if it's a repost!

They should have retired it. They didn't know Ford would pull a fast one with the new "retro" mustang. GM has nothing to compete with that class. So, here we go...I hate the retro look . . . it's not to my liking at all. give me something that's new a unique. They lost my intrest when they showed me the front end.

If it really went into production and looked anything like that picture above, I'd give Chevy MAD props. But if they ever do bring it back they'll water it down like the boring new mustang...
All of the concept pictures I've seen look hot though...

That does not look all to great. The lines are good, but those wheels got to go. Also that front grille, needs to go. The rear end of the car is not to bad looking. From that rear angle it looks like it stole its lines from a viper though

What is it with American auto makers and all this retro crap? Can't their designers do anything besides take a classic design by 'true' pioneers and fudge them up and call it new. Ford, Chevy, Chrysler are all guilty of this travesty. Honestly doesn't suprise me since Domestic's haven't really done anything innovative for decades (except maybe catch on fire if hit right).

My sentiments exactly; see my post above.

these are actually some old concept pics -- and they were not done by GM. if i recall correctly, it was actually drawn by a highschool/college student (forget which) on what he thought the camaro should be to compete with the mustang.

Personally, I think the back looks a lot like back of the more recent corvettes, even the front does, just stretch it out to a point and you'd have a corvette, not new styling not even retro styling, recycled styling if you ask me....

I don't understand what's so bad about retro designs...and if you really hate retro, then you should be blaming Volkswagen for starting it.
I agree on retro designs when a car has history...like the Mustang, Camaro, Vette', etc. It makes no sense to me to completely re-design a car and slap a name on it from the past, when it's current design has very little to do with it's heritage (cough*GTO*cough) . Except for some lines, and a change in headlights, the Vette hasn't changed much in almost 20 years... I LIKE that(Yes, I know a lot really has changed, but you know what I mean). Heck, people went nuts when Ford put back the side scoops on the Stang back in the 90's. Heritage is important in design if you ask me, both on the outside and inside of the hood.
Take all the badges off a Mustang and even the dumbest person still knows it's a Mustang. Take the badges off a Charger or GTO, some people might not be able to tell you what it is.
The new Charger, which is really a pretty cool car in it's own right, could have been named anything else and it wouldn't have made a difference. The only thing making it look remotely like a Charger is the rear fender lines and the 'fastback' window.
Even w/ cars like the RX-8 and 350Z, you can see where there is some 'styling' heritage in their designs.
What I DON'T like, are the 'fake' retros... The PT Cruiser, the Prowler and that god-forsaked SSR. A retro design for no good reason that people buy into because it's 'cute'. barf.

Oh..sorry, off topic here. As far as these concepts go, it's pretty sweet, but I think it's a bit much for a Camaro. It really does look like a Viper crossed with a Vette. Needs to be more muscular.
I like the Camaro's up until the 90's/2000's (not sure what gen those were?). That stilleto design was just retarded looking. It didn't look like a Camaro, it looked like a boat on wheels. If they do something retro, they should pull it from the 80's with the angular front end!! lol. Yeah, I said it.
