The tC interior is much nicer than a base cobalt but the SS interior is definately nicer than the tC.

Subaru Impreza WRX TR(tuner ready)
Pros:
-AWD
-Subaru Reliability
-Factory turbocharged

Folks will hate me. I'd say go for the Acura. I'm betting you treat your car better than your sis, and they make cloth seat covers.
After that, I'd go with the tC. I'm biased though, because of all three Scion models, I'm not in love with the tC.

The glass transmission thing is getting blown way out of proportion. The 02s had some transmission problems. They fixed it in mid-02. They've strengthened it twice since then, once in 04, and again with better synchros for the more powerful 06 model. The transmission is fine. You can break it if you abuse it a lot with misshifts, and high rpm clutch dumps, but it's fine for someone that knows how to drive. Or if you heavily mod the engine to where you're making well over 350lb/ft of torque you might see problems. Is it indestructible like the STI tranny? Most of the problem comes from people clutch dumping it to launch. They don't understand that since the car has all-wheel drive, it has too much grip to break the tires loose. So that shock is going to translate to the driveline. If you rev it just into boost, and feather the clutch out, the car will be fine (and launch like the dickens).
Maintanance isn't really any different than any other car. I don't know where this comes from. The STI's maintainance is little pricier, but my WRX has been cheaper to maintain than either of my previous cars.
Don't get the TR, it's not worth the money. It's $1K cheaper than a regular WRX and you lose waaaay too many features for that savings.
Given your choices, and depending how your finances are, I would definitely spring for the WRX. It's much quicker and the gains from mods are significantly better than the other cars (i.e. If you want to, you can gain 70hp *safely* for under $700).

I would love to get a WRX, unfortunately, so would the state of CA, and AAA their revenues would both increase due to my speeding tickets. But I am admittedly irresponsible behind the wheel of high power cars. (I got 4 speeding tickets in just over a year in a V8 Firebird)
