Genesis coupe Build thread! (MAJOR UPDATE- Pg.2)
So i decided to make a build thread instead of referring people to look at my photobucket all the time. From now on i will be updating and posting picturing/reviews in here instead of clusters the forum with new posts all the time
This is the first day i had the car:
next came my HKS bov and hard pipe:
This was before i decided to really start upgrading:
Next thing i bought was my AEM intake:
First car show, Carlisle 2010:
First dyno, PA flash with AEM intake. 191 whp and 248 lbs of torque:
Next was my Buschur FMIC.. Kit included brackets to delete the stock intercooler, also purchased a Tail bov with Buschur Block off plate:
After that i picked out a pair of exhaust tips i liked to go along with my Buschur Racing Catback exhaust:
After that i purchased a Luxon front grille:
Ended up placing first in the DUB carshow tour 2010, outdoor ranking:
Soon after, i powered coated my rims high gloss black:
After that i tinted my OEM tail lights and got the wing emblem:
Next i bought an AGP catch can and hooked up my wotbox:
YouTube - Genesis Coupe 2-Step launch
Recently a just bought Corbeau A4's in black suede with Red harnesses:

Nice job so far. I really want one, but am waiting to see if Hyundai will move the direct injection 274 HP twin-scroll Theta II into it. That, coupled with the 6-speed dual-clutch auto in the Veloster would put the Genesis heads above anything out of Detroit. When the slowest V6 Mustang is now packing 306 HP, hopefully Hyundai makes it happen soon. Haven't heard anything on the 2012 Genesis yet though.

^Doubt they are gonna do that... car companys hardly ever give us what we ask. And I think if they did, that car would end up pricing itself out of the affordable tuner category

Dunno about that one. Hyundai seemed to listen when everyone wanted an affordable RWD import, ala FT-86, Supra, basically a Mustang fighter and not an $80,000 supercar. They could have just put out another craptastic Tiburon. I really don't think moving from a Theta to a Theta II will drive cost much, the Sonata and Optima turbo are still only $24k and reducing support from two 2.0L designs to one would pull production cost down.
The bigger issue I see is that if the 2.0L gets you 274 HP, who's going to pay more money for the 3.8L? They'd need to design a direct-inject 3.8L Lambda II, or find a way to shoehorn in the Tau 4.6L V8. Of course, they could always eliminate the V6 all-together and only offer the Genesis coupe in a single engine variant as a turbo 4. That would certainly help push the MPG numbers up and line up with the corporate goal of 50 MPG avg. across the fleet by 2025.

Not in this generation. The sedan is getting a 5.0 good for 429 HP. They've repeatedly said the V8 just won't fit. Maybe when the body gets refreshed, 2013?
Chicago 2011: 2012 Hyundai Genesis R-Spec Sedan rolls with a 5.0
As another sad note, they also said the coupe was not receiving a power upgrade "for a little while". No clue how long that will be.

I'm hoping they're just playing coy until New York in April for a 2012 reveal w/ a GDI turbo.

Im on the left. A 13.4 - 13.5 is completely doable on my current set up. This was my first time at the track in this car. My reaction time is terrible because i was trying to figure out why my launch controller was not working . So this run was launching the car normally without the wot box.
