GM Microcar Concepts
It looks like Scions and other small cars are beginning to have an impact on USDM manufacturers. GM will have these concepts at the New York Auto Show. They want consumers to pick which one should be made. Site to vote

From the article
Chevrolet Beat
Designed to evoke the mood of a speedy micro import tuner, the Beat is a front-wheel-drive, three-door hatchback concept built to be personalized, and powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to an automatic transmission. It’s loaded with technology, including a navigation system and premium stereo.
Chevrolet Groove
A “funkastalgia”-themed vehicle too tough-looking to be “cute,” the Groove concept is a retro-inspired vehicle with bodacious fender flares and an upright windshield. It looks much longer than it is, thanks to its short hood and long cabin. The front-drive Groove is powered by a small, efficient 1-liter diesel engine.
Chevrolet Trax
An urban crossover concept that’s equally at home on the trails or in traffic, it gets a low-cost all-wheel-drive system and looks the part of a rugged SUV many times its size, thanks to a voluminous one-piece bumper and fender system in the front and back, a rear-mounted spare tire and a roof rack. Trax is powered by a 1-liter gas engine. The four-door Trax is powered by a 1-liter gasoline engine. The upper part of the exterior is bathed in Blaze Orange, while lower corner panels sport a Burnt Orange matte finish. The paint combination provides a look that reinforces the notion this Chevrolet is all business despite its small size.

They all look and are named like transformers. maybe all this "Loaded with technology" stuff means they can turn into robots too. I like them kinda bug eyed in a way. I certainly don't trust GM cars right now, but I'd like to see how these go.

Groove and Trax FTW!
edit: After seeing a side view of the Groove..... I'd gladly take it as the xB replacement...

I don't know if I should be happy for them or just ____ed. Is this the help toyota promised the american auto maker industry to keep them in competition or what? that's the new scion line up right there. Look the the c-pillar in the first two, the shape, everything as it is the same as the new xB and what ever xA.

I read that they were designed in South Korea. That Groove sure looks like the new xB:

The Scion "admirers/imitators" are coming out of the woodwork and I'm surprised it took this long. Its unavoidable, it you have a good idea and it pans out well, then it will attract others, until the "idea" becomes the "institution".
It would be nice if GM could be just a bit more original with their designs.
