Yeah, it clamps to the cross bar and goes down. The board sticks straight out, it's going to be 2-3" above the highest point on the fairing. It won't even come close to the snowboard.

Well I took everything off, the car is completely topless now. I needed to take it off to tighten everything down and straighten things out.

It looks so naked without the rack.

That looks kind of short on the sides... you think I should try the next size up? Or would there be problems fitting it?

 

One size up is wider than the car.

 

Ah, ya, literally just saw that. I thought they were only a couple inches different... not like a foot.

 

And 1 size up would definitely not fit on the OEM crossbars. I have 1.75" on each side of the cross bars for the clamps and the next size up is 9" wider. No clue how much wider the mounts are, but I'd imagine they'd be +3" wider than the medium ones.

Some people actually go with a smaller mount. I know the Thule is nowhere near as wide as the Inno or Yakima.

 

I think it would look a bit funny if it wasn't as wide as it is.

I don't feel like dealing with this leaking tire anymore and I want these tires to last one more summer, so I made the switch to my Wintersports.

Mine are in storage waiting for something to mount them to.

 

Not too early, and my reasons justify it. I was planning on switching on October anyway. Last year we had a freakishly early snow storm.

Plus I actually felt like doing it today, it's rare that I feel like doing things, so who knows when I would have felt like doing it again.

 

people actually use those racks for snowboards?
i could never justify spending that much money on something that hauls something that i could fit inside my car.
