Holy crap, a MazdaSpeed 6 Turbo!
Anyone check out the lasted MazdaSpeed creation? The Mazdaspeed 6 has a 274HP turbocharged and intercooled, 2.3L inline-4, 6-speed tranny and AWD! Now I've always loved the styling of the 6 but holy crap this thing is a performer.
Now if I had to guess, rated at 274HP on a 2.3L at 9.5:1 compression, this thing is probably in the 7-8PSI range.

Here is some more info from Mazda's website.
It also uses a direct fuel injection system which pumps fuel right into the combustion chamber and it uses a top mount intercooler. Material enhancements include reshaped steel connecting rods w/ thicker pins, steel crank and full floating pistons.
Something tells me that with a more performance oriented tune, the STi/Evo owners should be taking notice, especially since this thing will retail for under $30K!

It won't really be a direct competitor against the WRX/Evo....it's made to be more civilized.
Its performance is weaker than those two, but look at the pros when you're getting the speed6:
it's faster and sportier than other sport sedans around that price
and it's got a much better interior and matured look compared to the evo/sti.
It's a compromise between daily driving and sportiness

yeah this and the evo/wrx are different animal.
similar mechanical pieces and technologies. but this will be an awesome lil grocery getter that will be comfortable , carry easier to swallow insurance premiums , and be yes slower. oh well. lets hope mazda's engineers made a reliable fun to drive awd system or borrowed/bought from another good company.
watch it be from ford aka volvo.

Well, from the way it is priced as well as its size it is in more direct competition with the Subaru Legacy GT or BMW 330si and the Mercedes equivalent. You also have to consider this engine is directly based off of the Ford Focus WRC car which means it is the same one as the Focus RS as well as the upcoming Cosworth. So there should be plenty of aftermarket from both sides of the pond to choose from.
Although I have heard and read a couple of magazes that took spyshots of what looked like a test mule for a up coming Mazdaspeed3, which would more directly compete with the WRX.

Also as for a realiable AWD and engine, the engine is pretty much a .3l increase while the AWD system is directly based off of the Focus WRC car so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. And with the a new Focus Cosworth coming out soon in Europe aftermarket shouldn't be either.

Actually the funny part about all of this is the engine, turbo setup from the Focus WRC car is actually Mazda based. As for the AWD system, Ford has been in rally racing in Europe since the 1970s with the Escort as well as the famous Group B RS200. So in fact, Ford or at least Ford Europe has been in rally racing even longer than Mitsubishi. They know a thing or two about building and sponsoring rally racers.
Also you have to realise Ford America, Europe and Australia are pretty much different companies with the only thing in common is being under one name and perhaps international bank account. So when it comes to reliability Ford Europe is pretty much worlds apart.

wow! saw one up close! awesome car! the gt doesnt even need a key, just a little credit card fob that has to be within 2 feet of the car and, well you can open and start the car, awesome, i want. i want it,bad.

If you mean this Escort, than there is nothing to laugh about aside from the probable joy of driving it. Also, their rally cars have an AWD system based off of the one made by Cosworth and Ferguson. Both companies made their first AWD systems for racing long before even Mitsubishi ever entered let alone Subaru making AWD a wide ranged option then standard. In fact you can probably owe it to Ferguson for the first ones making the first 4WD for racing.

oh man that is awesome. I have liked the 6's now I like them more. EXCEPT, I dont like any of the color choices. I wonder why they are so limited?
And did you notice that it starts at 28,999 but EVERYTHING is an option taking the price up?
