Default Hyundai Tiburon

Today at work it was "dead", so I end up getting one of these cars to do a free oil change on, might as well, nothing else to do. You know, this car isn't that bad looking. Drives pretty darn nice with the 5 speed manual trans and it's comfortable inside as well. I think it was an '04 model? If it came down to it, I'd probably buy one as a 2nd car...
Does anyone here own one?

Whats the 0-60 time for the 4-cyl base model?
I think I might trade my xA in if its much faster.

It's around like 8 seconds, I think....

You should opt for the V6 tibby if you can, those are the once I'd get. And they're cheap anyways, so it isn't that much more than a four banger

i have an 05 V6 6 spd. i love this car to death. it took me a little bit to get over it being a hyundia too, but once i drove it i fell in love.
i let my ex drive it and she liked it too, so she went out and bought a TC. (she wanted a sports car and she worked for toyota at the time) she let me take it for a spin, and i have to say i liked my car so much better. i dont know if its just the way it drives or the handling, but i just feels so much better. just my 2 cents

Do you drive an auto xA or 5spd? If you've got the 5spd, the base model isn't much faster.

If you want a tibby, it's WORTH it to get the V6. It's not too much more.

I agree. The V6 is a good buy. Sitting in one, there's alot less back seat room than the tC and the cabin feels moer enclosed. I can't compare the power though. Never driven it myself.

The V6 doesn't get good gas mileage. If the 4-cyl isn't much faster than the xA, then nevermind

^ If gas mileage is your concern, you shouldn't be preoccupied with a faster car.

If you're looking at a heavier, more power 4-cyl car, then you're going to pay a gas mileage penalty. . . which means mpg ain't your priority. Go for the V6, or you might as well keep your xA. If you want a little more speed, but still great mileage, go for a used Civic 2 door or EG hatch. . .

I meant it gets bad mileage compared to other V6 or similar powered cars. Hell it gets the same mileage as the 400hp Corvette!

I think I'll just wait for the 07 Mini Cooper redesign and see if they add more power to the base model.

My fiance bought one from me when I was in car sales. 03 V6 6spd. Fun car. Faster than the tC stock for stock. I dont think its as nice as the tC but its still a great car.

My girl has an 03 GT V6 with a supercharger, its around 300hp. It runs really strong and has never had a problem yet, 40,000 miles so far.

Should be hitting mid to low 13s in the fall, with some slicks.

Umm, the new tiburon actually looks nice. A lot of folks in my area drive them and fix them up rather nicely.

Hyundai's are now (I think) being built in the US - or is it Kia?
Anyway, I'm not a fan at all of Korean goods, but these cars are getting really nice.
Don't dismiss them.

personally... I dont care how good it rides or how much more power it has I'de rather own a used Toyota or Honda than a new Hyundai or Kia.. The local paper here had a reliability rating and they said Kia was the worst and Hyundai although they showed an improvement they were still below average...I'll stick to japan. Korea just wants to nuke us...
