I made friends with my Fast

TC's still sweeter
The Fast is a sweet ride and all. But overall it's not worth buying. First the top line costs over 28 G's and the fact it's a German car will kill you on the repairs and maintenance. I'd still choose that over the new Jettas and Passats. It still doesn't compare to the overall quality of the TC despite its strong engine. I can at least trust Toyota with their history of service and reliability.

For the price I paid for my sc tc with all mods it would come out to about the same price as a stock gti with options. The catch is my car insures as a 4 banger cheapo car and I pay literally 1/2 of what I was quoted on a wrx or gti insurance wise. Also my car has eaten a gti at the track I am very happy with the tc, she is a good car and great performer if you know how to set her up! gti is a sexy machine though.

the gti has the same price in insuranse then a tc they are both considered "sports cars" and was the gti u raced at least chipped cause if he was even a sc tc could not come close to 1...adds 50hp and 80ft lbs tq with just a chip...add TB exhaust and intake u got urslef 260+whp car right there with over 300plus of tq...which should b enough to RAPE a stock evo or sti on a 2nd gear or 3rd gear pull...
and u guys dont understand that the gti is Negiotable u can take 2k from MSRP easy...soo u basicially u can get a fully loaded gti with navi for 25k..i've seen it on vwvortex people gettin it
And do u get over 30mpg with ur SC TC????cause i still get over 30MPG with chip and all

Actually my insurance considers my tc to be in the same class as a 4 cylinder camry, base lancer etc... No idea what insurance company you are useing! Definitly not at all a sports car. Also no idea the mods on the gti, he left after tha race. Right now I am at 231 wheel, next dyno going for 240-245 so I am getting close to a lightly modded gti. I am not saying they are slow or do not have massive potential, I am saying for the same price as a gti with no mods, you can have a very nicley modified tc which is a very very nice car and definitly faster than a stock gti if boosted Also a tc modded to the same price as a gti would have room for a very very nice suspension system in which the tc would most likley handle much better than a gti. Apples ro oranges man. Both are great cars.

No I did not say that at all..?? What page are you reading..? I think you have a gti up your rear because you are trying to make an argument out of a post in your head, not from any I have written. I actually complimented the gti, I do feel it is a very nice car *LOL* You need some ice water dumped on your head.

There's a guy at the 1/8th mile track I always goto with a 1.8T '03 GTi, he has intake, exhaust, and flash he runs consistant 9.2's. That would most likely run a high 13 in the quarter, not bad at all for those minor mods.

the thing I don't like about the vw is when it starts to go it is a pain in the @ss to work on, they are built with such tight tolerances that everything sucks to take apart. My wife has an 02 jetta and it has been a great car. The few times I have had to do anything to it had me cursing the German people.

Hey how does the stock stereo sound compared to Scion?
I've been thinking about about getting a GTI and while looking at some GTI forums, I've noticed many people say they are dissapointed with the sound.

i have driven either audi or vw since 94. i'm a fan. never had problems. cost of maintaining was an issue (the 2.8 6 in my last audi had an intrusion engine and a timing belt change was a real adventure...needed two tools to ensure nothing went "cucklunk" and moved while the belt was off....)costly too.
the tC is my first japanese car. i love it. what a value for the money. but quite frankly, i'm deciding between the A3 and GTI as a replacement this year. the GTI is heavy but has potential and was fun as heck to test drive. however, the dealers i've gone to are loading them all up to 26k+ instead of having any lotted at base (21,900). won't pay 26k+ for that car; would get a base Z.
the A3 base is around 26k w/200hp-207ft/tq (GTI) motor, but finding one of those without add ons is equally as hard. they are all at around 29k. audi has always done me well but 29k for an A3 is a bit much.
