I hate to say it, but I kind of saw this coming a few years ago. They had, for all intents and purposes, no new product in their pipeline for several years. The last few years, they have sold nothing but rebadged versions of GM models in their light duty dealerships. That couldn't last long, and didn't. It's sad, but the US market is known for being one of the toughest markets in the world.

look, honestly, isuzu's weren't that bad, i have friends and family who have owned them, one family had a trooper, and they loved it (actually acura sold their own version of the trooper called the SLX) and honda sold their own version of the rodeo (the honda passport), oh, and the isuzu oasis was the original honda odessey too.
they are good reliable vehicles, but they are very trucky and rugged, but that is because they had actual off-road prowless.
the real problem was that they never developed a new chassis so they just kept building new body styles on it, like the vehicross, and the axiom.
they also had a terrible marketing department.

The worst part about this is that I believe it didn't have to happen like this. The first mistake they made was getting out of the car business, and only making light trucks for the US market. Second, was not getting any new vehicles to market (probably their biggest problem). And third, was their atrocious marketing. No one knew what Isuzu offered, compared to other makes, or what advantages there were to owning an Isuzu. It's those things, more than any other, that are what sank them in America.
