Yeah it does look somewhat like a caddy, I agree with that. But keep in mind this camaro is still only a concept. It will undoubtably change when it arives in 2009.

No doubts.
Hey, I'd love to see a new-retro Camaro myself - I had a '69 Z/28 in high school, and it's still my favorite car of all time.

I'm actually starting to tire of the whole retro look. I initially loved the Mustang concept but now that there are about a million of them on the road it's starting to look 'meh' again like the foxbody. I'm all for the return of the muscle car. But this retro look thing is getting old already.

I also don't like GM mentioning that they have the LS7 on tap to compete with the Challenger's higher horsepower if need be. Just because I highly doubt they would actually do that. Those are hand-assembled race engines that are basically exclusive to the new Z06 and the C6R. I doubt if they put them in a Camaro they'd be able to meet demand for them. And even if they did, unless the new Camaro's handling absolutely blows, it would seriously cut into the Corvette's sales. Also, it really wouldn't be that hard to free up another 25hp in the LS2; they could easily sell an SS model with a reflash, intake and better exhaust and put a hurt on the Hemi.

I personally like the look of the new GTO although i will say that it certainly needs a more aggressive backend. The rear of that beast really needs a better diffuser and some kickass taillights. The existing pansy taillights really kill the look of the car.

The new Goat is FUGLY.
And, overpriced.
GM/Ford are hurtin' - and these models may save them.
As for the new retro getting old - um, they are based on 30-40 year old designs, so yes, they are all in our minds already!

It's kinda tricky to make a great car that is appealing and then NOT sell very many of them, unless it's way overpriced. The odds are pretty good that if you like it, there may be others that feel the same way... It goes hand in hand with the concept of mass-production...

Hey, it's all about taste. The Goat blows - I grew up with real GTOs in my club, and these new ones are a disgrace to the badge.

Hate to disagree - but it's been about 36 years since a real Camaro came off of the line!

^^^ That would hold water if msot of those cars hadn't either disappeared or were bastardized in the 80's and 90's!
Plenty of bad examples:
T-Bird
Mustang
Camaro
Corvette

400hp for ~$31,000? That's less than an STi or Evo MR, and just a hair more than a loaded Mustang GT. Overpriced? I think not.

Thanks for the update.

P.S. Does this in anyway contradict my statement that I don't really like them anymore?

Its ok. disappointing tho. out of all the old muscle cars the '69 SS camaro was my favorite. best looking too. whats with the nose on this new one? the old camaros never had pointed noses. and its also too heavy looking. the new challenger is better looking. which is funny cause they improved the old challenger's looks and they screwed up the camaro's.

Whats with the interiors. The muscle cars had great bodies but all their interiors were horrible. just looking at the dash makes me wince. 1st thing they should've done with all these retros was update the interiors, specially the dashes.

I'll never understand the gto. the original gto looked like a pansies car. it was to high and the forward swept look is just plain dorky. its just stupid looking. the camaro, 'cuda, challenger, and mustang all looked better. the new gto, eventho it looks like a buffer '90s honda, doesn't look that bad. course I guess thats why the ol gto lovers don't like it.

I kinda agree on the interior deal. I know I already mentioned I'm not a huge fan of the retro look, but the interior of these concepts and the new Mustangs look horrid.

Even if they do continue to make retro-looking cars, I really think that should NOT carry into the interiors as well.

I guess it's your right to think the Goat is "fugly", but overpriced?
I paid just over 30 grand out the door for a vette with a backseat. 400 hp 400tq and a pretty decent suspension. I am running 12.9x's at the strip bone stock. A relative bargain to me!!

But I could GET the Vette, used for 30k!
Better yet, 10k more and a used Viper on the way...
Sorry. I just can't not compare them to the classics, so that and the new Charger suck nut, aesthetically - to me.
Have fun - until you go to the Mobil station... ;)
